Seeking the extraordinary in the mundane

At first glance you may see realism, but as you look closer I hope you’ll see the magic.

I paint mostly from photos, often cutting them into pieces and gluing them together in my mind to create harmonious compositions before I begin.  I like to use thin coats of acrylic paint, built up layer upon layer to create subtle shades and blending that suggest, yet enhance what our eye sees in nature.  I thrive on capturing minutiae and find robust satisfaction in the details of life that we so often pay little attention to.  I want to evoke a sense of charm; of seeing past the mundane finding the beauty that lies there.

My intent in my work is to draw my viewer in to a place of simple, quiet joy and feed their soul with light.
